JOURNALISM

I’ve been a freelance journalist since November 2000, when I found myself writing for the late and much-lamented film magazine Hotdog. Since then, I’ve written for a variety of magazines and websites over the years – including SFX, Total Film, DVD Review, Starburst, Film4.Com, X-Pose, What DVD, Turner Classic Movies, and DVD Next – and I also branched out into the world of magazine sub-editing, working mainly on listings magazines like What’s On TV.

In 2006 I moved outside of London, and in 2008 I decided to shift my focus away from journalism towards freelance proofreading. Since then, I’ve principally written for UK genre magazine SFX, covering books, comics and audio dramas for them (and the occasional film), and I’m also one of the contributors to the 2014 reference book The Science Fiction Chronicles, published by Aurum Press.

On this section of the site you’ll find links to a selection of articles from my time as a film journalist, as well as some of my SFX reviews and other artefacts from my freelance writing career.
