I’ve worked as a freelance proofreader since 2008, and have worked on a wide selection of novels for publishers like Gollancz, Orbit, Del Rey, Angry Robot, Tor UK, HarperCollins Voyager, Little Brown, and Abacus. Authors I have proofread include George R.R. Martin, Robin Hobb, Ian McDonald, Terry Brooks, Christopher Brookmyre, Scott Lynch and Simon Mawer.
I’ve been a freelance journalist since 2000, and since 2001 I’ve been a regular contributor to SFX, the UK’s biggest SF genre magazine. Over the years I’ve also written for outlets like Hotdog, Starburst, Total Film, Film4.Com and a selection of other magazines and websites. I was one of the contributors to the 2014 reference book The Sci-Fi Chronicles, writing on subjects as varied as the Predator movies and the little-known sci-fi author Cordwainer Smith.
I work as a freelance manuscript reader – since 2003, I have read and assessed manuscripts at a professional level, doing editorial reports for major publishers and independent clients.

I also have a YouTube channel – Narrowboat Zero Gravity, which documents myself and my partner Emma’s plan to move onto a canal narrowboat which we’re currently fitting out. You can read more details about our narrowboat adventures on the YouTube page.
I’m not hugely active on social media right now, but you can follow me on Facebook, Twitter, or Tumblr. And if you’ve got a question about writing, comics, science fiction, or anything in particular, feel free to fire it my way.
